University of Nebraska-Lincoln Departments that have guests and or visitors may request Departmental Guest permits. Guests and visitors are individuals that come to the university to visit a department, faculty or staff for outreach or educational purposes. Guests have no affiliation to the University (faculty, staff, student, and affiliate) and are not attending meetings, seminars, workshops or conferences on campus.
Requirements
- To request Departmental Guest Permits please contact the Parking & Transit Services Special Event Office at (402) 472-8436. Please allow two weeks notice to process permits requests for the upcoming months.
- Each department should have one person responsible to the issue the permits.
- Each department must keep a log sheet, provided with the permits requested. The log sheet and any extra or voided permits will need to be returned to the Parking & Transit Services Special Event office at 1931 Antelope Valley Parkway - 0681 at the beginning of the following month. Additional Departmental Guest Permit will not be issued to the department until the log sheet is competed and returned.
- These permits may be issued to guest speakers, unexpected guest that drop in, or small groups, four or less, they are not to be used for meetings, seminars, conferences, and/or workshops, (a special conference permit can be issued for this type of event).
- The issuing department is responsible to inform the guest of the areas where the permit is valid, or suggest to them that they read the back of the permit.
Restrictions
- Departmental Guest Permits shall not be issued to faculty, staff, students, or vendors doing business with, working, or going to school at the University of Nebraska. This includes temporary and on call workers.
- If you make a mistake while issuing a guest permit please DO NOT use the permit, issue another permit instead. The use of an altered/counterfeit permit will result in vehicle impoundment and a $200 fine.
- The departmental guest permits are NOT valid in metered parking areas. Please inform your guest that they are responsible for paying the meter.
- Do not write "Any" for the permit area. Departmental Guest Permits are only valid in non-reserved Area A or C.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in forfeiture of use of Departmental Guest Permits.
