The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department does not provide vehicle unlock or jump start services. Because of enhanced door construction, side airbags, plastic interior door components and sophisticated electronic systems, our ability to enter a vehicle using a simple tool no longer exists. However, University Police will respond to requests for assistance if a child is locked inside a car. In either case of a locked vehicle or dead battery, University Police will notify a locksmith or service provider if requested by the stranded motorist.
