The University of Nebraska-Lincoln contracts with StarTran to operate bus routes Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters. The system of bus routes connecting the UNL campuses throughout the day is designed to ensure timely, cost effective, and simple access to classes or meetings across the university community. Parking and Transit Services also provides van service to connect East Campus and Nebraska Innovation Campus when classes are in session.

Transit Tips
- To plan your waiting time, a printable route map and time schedule is available on the Bus Maps page
- A link to an interactive map with real-time GPS location of each buses between campuses can also be found on the Bus Maps page that you can view either on your desktop or mobile device.
- StarTran also provides links to bus tracking mobile apps that can be downloaded from your device app store.
- Decide which route you want and the closest stop to you
- Buses do not stop at all stops
- To board a bus - wait for the bus at a designated UNL bus stop
- To get off a bus - use the stop signal to inform the bus driver that you wish to get off at the next stop

Husker Safe Walk
The UNL Police Department offers a courtesy Husker Safe Walk program where a Community Service Officer is dispatched, upon availability, to accompany you while you await the arrival of your transportation at night. There maybe a response time of up to 15 minutes. For more information visit Husker Safe Walk.

Student Bus Riders
StarTran bus service, provided through a contract with the City of Lincoln, and University Parking and Transit Service van service connects City, East and Nebraska Innovation campuses. University of Nebraska–Lincoln students, receive a bus pass at no additional cost as part of the student transit fees fund.
A bus pass is required to board and ride StarTran buses. Passes are coordinated through Token Transit.
Register and receive your mobile bus pass through the Token Transit app:

- Download the Token Transit app
- Visit the registration form at https://tokentransit.com/startran/unl-pass
- Enter your NU student email.
- Enter your NU student identification number.
- Click the “Send Pass” button.
- You will receive an email with next steps from: orders@mail.tokentransit.com, subject line “Redeem Your Transit Pass for StarTran”!
- Access the email from your mobile device and tap the TT app icon to redeem and use the pass.
- Tap "Redeem" in the Token Transit app to finish adding the pass to your app.
- To use, select "Tap to use this pass" and show the ticket to the bus driver when boarding.
No pass is required for Parking and Transit Services campus van services, Route 23, running between East Campus and Innovation Campus.

Faculty and Staff Bus Riders
Free bus passes are available for all employees
In support of campus sustainability efforts, Parking and Transit Services now offers all faculty and staff StarTran bus passes at no cost.Bus services provided through StarTran connect City, East and Innovation campuses with full day schedules. The bus passes are also good for all StarTran routes in the city.
StarTran bus passes are coordinated through Token Transit.
Register and receive your mobile bus pass through the Token Transit app:

- Enter your NU email.
- Enter your NU identification number
- Click the “Send Pass” button.
- You will receive an email at your UNL email inbox to “Redeem your Transit Pass for StarTran”
- If using your mobile device: Click the “Redeem Now” button & choose “Download” from the top menu to install the Token Transit app
- If using your computer for previous steps: Open your app store on your mobile device to download the Token Transit app
- Enter your phone number and agree to the Terms of Use & Privacy Policy to continue
- You will receive a text with a six-digit code—enter this code when requested by Token Transit
- Click on the “My Passes” menu (android) or the “person” icon (iOS)
- Select “Redeem Code”
- Check your UNL email account and manually enter the code on STEP 5 that was sent from Token Transit
- Select the UNL Bus Pass for the current year (expires on August 2nd)
- To use pass, tap on the UNL Pass, select “Show operator your ticket,” and show to the bus driver when entering the bus
No pass is required to ride campus vans.

Under Title VI, StarTran customers who are not proficient in English are able to obtain a "Riders Guide" in these languages: Spanish), Arabic), Russian, Vietnamese, and Karen. This Ride Guide is free and available to the public upon request. Translation services are also free and available upon request.
